Want to change something about your appearance? How about your eye color? You would be amazed how eye color affects your image. Find out what color contacts can do for your appearance and see how to get the best out of them

Color contact lenses options

Enhancement contact lenses are designed to enhance the color of light eyes. They don’t change your color, but give your eyes a light blue, aqua or green tint. Enhancement color lenses make your eye color brighter and more defined.

The most popular enhancement color contacts are Acuvue 2 Colors Enhancers by Johnson & Johnson and Freshlook Dimensions by Ciba Vision. Freshlook Radiance is also a very interesting design; these lenses create an illuminating effect. Enhancement color contacts only work on light eyes; on dark eyes they will not have any effect at all.

Opaque color contacts completely change the color of your eyes. They work equally well for light and dark eyes. Even if you have a very dark brown eyes, opaque color contacts like Freshlook Colorblends can transform your color into sapphire blue or jade green.

The color of an opaque color lens isn’t solid – it has an imprinted pattern that simulates the natural pattern of a human eye. High quality opaque color contacts like Freshlook Colorblends look very realistic. People would be amazed by what beautiful blue, green or amethyst eyes you have.

Costume color contacts are always Halloween favorites. While the contacts mentioned above are designed to give your eyes a different but realistic looking color, costume lenses can give you cat’s eyes or werewolf eyes, while complete whiteouts are perfect for the effect of blind eyes. And who said that you can only wear costume color contacts for a costume party? It can be a real fun to wear them when going to the club, or just at school or work with otherwise ordinary clothes. With a pair of cat’s eyes, you are guaranteed to be noticed.

Most costume contacts only cover the color area of your eye. However, there are also scleral color contacts that cover the visible portion of your eye. Scleral lenses can produce unbelievable effects. The most popular costume contacts are Crazy Lenses by Cooper Vision and Wild Eyes by Ciba Vision.

All brand-name color and costume contact lenses are available with corrective powers as well as in plano (no correction) This means that if your eyesight isn’t perfect and you wear corrective contact lenses anyway, you can get color lenses with corrective powers and kill two birds with one stone.

Color contact lenses wearing advice

·  You should follow the same rules as for regular contact lenses – wash your hands before putting color lenses in, clean the lenses each time you use them and store them in a contact lens case in a special solution.

·  Color lenses are like your tooth or hair brash, and should not be shared with other people

·  You should put your make-up on after the lenses are in. If you use hairspray, do it before you put the lenses in, or shut your eyes very tightly while spraying.

·  Use only a mild multipurpose solution for cleaning your color contacts; never use

peroxide based solutions. And don’t rub the lenses – it can damage the color

·  If you don’t wear your lenses often, change the solution they are stored in at least once a week

·  Don’t wear your color contacts for longer than 8 hours at a time

Your eyes and your hair are probably the two things most people notice first. And with color contacts you can have any eye color you want. Try them, and I am sure you will see many men turning their heads when you pass.

Take Proper Care of Your Contact Lenses – It will take proper Care of Your Eyes

January 13th, 2011

You may find it taxing, but it is necessary for you to understand the importance of proper contact lens care, else you may end up with infection in your eyes, even blindness is not a distant possibility.

In today’s world, with disposable contact lenses and one–bottle care systems, taking care of contacts asks for far less trouble, expense and time than it did earlier.

It is better not to switch your care regimes if your eye doctor does not permit for it. Some products are incompatible with each other, even with some contact lenses also. These incompatible products may spoil your contacts or damage your coveted eyes.

To utilize the bottles and boxes, C-R-D is the best formula. C – Clean, R – Rinse and D – Disinfect. I will help you to know the steps required to care for your contact lenses:

  1. Properly wash your hands (not with moisturizing soaps) to minimize the chance of dirt and germs being transferred to your eyes. Then dry it with a lint-free towel.
  2. Remove either of the lenses (but always one at a time) and with the help of the recommended solution, clean it gently. Our eyes produce proteins, cosmetics and other debris on the surface of the lens impairing lens comfort. Cleaning removes all these stuff. The best way to do it is to rub the lens in the palm of your hand after pouring a few drops of solution (it does not matter even if it is a “no-rub” product as eye doctors only recommended it).
  3. Rinse for as long as it is directed in the manual to remove the loosened debris completely. This is important.
  4. Now it is turn to place your lens into the clean lens case (it may be a lens holder also) and fill it with fresh solution. It is not recommended to ‘top off’ your old solution. Disinfecting is the best way to kill microorganisms, which build up on the lens. However, the duration of time to disinfect may vary from product to product. You should check the package for the entire details.
  5. Go through the above three steps for the other lens also.

This was about lens care but the million dollar question is from where to buy the lenses? SoftTouchLenses.com, the ‘numero uno’ site for contact lenses and contact lens solutions is the ultimate destination for any kind of contact lenses that also of the best quality with discounted prices – only for you. Try it out. I bet, you will buy from them again.

Cheap Contact Lenses Online - Consumer Tips

August 19th, 2009

Contact lenses ordered though your doctor can cost you a small fortune. That is why more and more people buy their contacts online. However, buying online doesn’t automatically mean saving. To get the best deal from online contact lens shopping, you need to know a few insider tips.

Tip 1: Find out if they really sell cheap contact lenses

Most companies that sell contact lenses online give you big discounts, compared with prices in a doctor’s office. However, online prices vary as well. We can’t name a company that sells all contact lenses cheaper than other retailers, because different companies have best offers for different brands of lenses. When you have your prescription, compare prices for your lenses at several retailers.

Tip 2: Check the shipping charges

A definite disadvantage of online contact lens shopping is shipping charges. Shipping costs also vary from company to company. Some retailers deliberately offer you very low prices on contacts lenses, while their shipping charges are astronomically high. On the other hand, there are retailers that offer free shipping on all orders (usually only within the Mumbai), but their prices are usually significantly higher that others.

Your best bet are companies that offer free shipping on large orders. Since contact lenses don’t spoil and take very little storage space, it makes since to buy several boxes at once and save on shipping.

Tip 3: Further discounts might be available

Speaking of large orders, some companies will give you significant additional discounts or rebates, if you buy a year’s supply of lenses. If you can afford to buy a year’s supply, you can definitely get the lowest price. Some companies even offer both - lowest price per box if you get many (usually 8) boxes, plus a rebate.

Rebates have two disadvantages, though - you have to wait before you get your money and they are usually only available to US residents. So be sure to read the fine print - rebates usually apply to selected items and are only good for a limited time.

Tip 4: Find out when your lenses will arrive

It is important to select a retailer that ships your contacts within a couple of days of your order. This information should be clearly stated with the shipping charges and conditions. In this respect, larger companies are better than small ones - they have all lenses in stock, while small retailers have to order the lenses for you. If your have a rare prescription and order from a small retailer, your lenses might take several weeks to arrive.

Tip 5: Read reviews on that retailer

For you as a customer it might be difficult and time consuming to compare several retailers and select the best one. One shortcut is to read the reviews of other people, who bought lenses from any given company. Also, there are websites that compare online retailers for you, providing you with independent and unbiased reviews of the best merchants.

Beautiful eyes add to the beauty of the face…they are often the most sorted after part of a woman; a pair of eyes that can make their admirers drool over them!Contact lenses can be an easier, safer option, provided you choose wisely according to what you’ll be comfortable wearing. Contact lenses are made differently for different needs, so pick out the one that best suits your requirements, you’ll find that they are not only comfortable, but they undoubtedly are the best accessories your eyes can ask for! To make your search less tedious, here’s a list of the various types of contact lenses you can choose from:contact lens we’ll talk about is disposable lens. You must have guessed from the name itself that these are ones you can throw off once you’re done with them, or if you find they are not suiting you. Of course, this means that you won’t have to clean them at regular intervals, you won’t have to fret if you suddenly discover they’ve fallen off. While you’re using them, you’ll have no trouble maintaining them. Now lets move on to the vast range of contact lens that fall under the category of disposable lenses…but are suited for different needs.daily disposable lens. It’s evident from the name that these are lenses you can dispose off everyday, that is, they can be used once, so you’ll have to wear a new pair everyday, and there’s absolutely no chance of infection. They don’t require disinfection, cleaning solutions, and all the trouble we associate with having to wear contact lenses. This type of lens is also very useful and well suited for those who normally use specs but reserve contact lenses for special occasions.

I’m sure each of us has a lovely pair of eyes, and would love to show them off! The hindrance to this is of course, the pair of specs we are often forced to wear, spectacles are a much needed tool no doubt, but they often hide the prettiest feature that we possess.

Not only that, wearing specs means that we cannot swim, or play a vigorous game of tennis, or even dance. Simply put, every activity that requires us to move about too much is restricted because of the specs. You may have often heard your doctor mention contact lens, the truth is that many people believe it’s not too safe!

They fall off while washing your eyes, they may be very irritating if dust enters your eyes, and on top of this, the constant burden of washing your lens every day and before every replacement. This is why most people think that even though contact lens is popular, specs are a much safer choice. But we have news that’ll put all your fears and reservations at rest.

• The first type of

• The next category is

A slight variation of this kind of lens is sports lenses. These lenses are just right for those who spend a lot of their time outdoors in activity. Spectacles are of course a major difficulty for those who play physically demanding sports like tennis, football or swimming. These contact lenses make you completely free of that burden on your eyes and ensure that you can perform your best at all the events. They are also very useful if you’re going mountaineering or rock climbing, by wearing these, if you can wear a sunglass over it, you’re all set to take on the hills, and your eyes are all protected! Like the daily disposable contact lens, they too can be thrown away after a single use, and requires no disinfection and changes!

• Moving on, the next type of disposable contact lenses available is the monthly disposable variety. The only way they are similar to daily contact lenses is that they can be disposed off…but the deadline is a month instead of a day. These require some more care, as they have to be cleaned and disinfected everyday for one month. Very similar to these are contact lenses that can be worn over a period of a year, and can be disposed for a new pair thereafter. Of course, this type of lens is most suited for those who use contacts on an everyday basis and not occasionally. You need to be used to the procedures of using and maintaining lenses to use these.

Before you buy the lenses, there’s another last thing that you’ll need to keep in mind. Whether you’re wearing contact lenses on a regular basis, or occasionally, it’s extremely important that you keep a spare pair of lens or specs within reach. Much as we admit that contact lens is an easier option, you should have an extra pair of specs just in case you need them.

Always keep them with you even if you’re away from home, so that you’re not dependant on a single pair of lenses. Of course, since most lens users are ex-specs users, they never leave home without their trusty old pair of glasses or an extra pair of lens that can see them through if the existing pair fails!

Safety tips for contact lenses

August 15th, 2009
Wearing contact lenses is a much better solution to correct your vision when compared to wearing glasses. Many people who wear spectacles have to face a lot of problems like the eyelids and the cornea get disturbed while wearing glasses and sometimes the layer of film that covers the outer surface of the eye starts tearing. All these problems can be avoided once contact lenses are used. Sometimes contact lenses can be worn even at night.

Nowadays disposable contact lenses are becoming more and more popular since many people prefer them. This is mainly due to the fact that disposable contact lenses do not require too much care since they do not require cleaning and there is lesser possibility of bacteria infecting such lenses. People who use contact lenses must clean their lenses regularly and make sure that they are disinfected in order to maintain their clear vision and avoid any damage to the eyes.

An ophthalmologist or an eye doctor will be the person who can give the right advice as to when and how the contact lenses should be cleaned and how often they should be cleaned. There are many types of cleaning solutions available in the market that can be used to clean contact lenses. But some solutions should be used only on certain kinds of contact lenses. Hence it is very important to check the instructions written on every bottle of cleaning solution before purchasing it. It is also important to keep the bottle of cleaning solution closed when it is not being used. Some people might be allergic to some of the ingredients, which are present in the contact lens cleaning solutions. It is extremely essential that the doctor be made aware of any kind of medical allergies before any medication or contact lens cleaning solution is administered. This will help in avoiding many problems in the future.

A different kind of contact lens will be prescribed by the doctor for every person. Two people wearing contact lenses should take care that they never exchange their contact lenses amongst themselves. This might cause some kind of infection in the eyes of the person wearing the lens and it could also damage the eyes. Sometimes, a doctor might be needed to remove the contact lenses in case the wrong person has worn them. The eyes could start swelling badly due to infection in this case.

People who use contact lenses should wash their hands properly before they wear their contact lenses. The soap that is used to wash the hands should not contain any kind of moisturizers or allergens as this can cause damage to both the contact lenses as well as the eyes.

People should not simply follow the above-mentioned tips thinking it is a substitute for the advice given by a doctor or a specialist in contact lenses. A doctor should definitely be consulted before wearing a set of contact lenses.

Caring for contact lenses

August 15th, 2009
Contact lenses need to be taken care of in a proper manner. This is a very important aspect of the maintenance of contact lenses. The two main functions involved in the maintenance of contact lenses is the cleaning process and the disinfecting process. Both these functions should be performed in an appropriate manner otherwise they could seriously damage your eyes. A special cleaning solution should be used to clean your contact lenses so that all the dust and dirt that gets deposited on the lenses can be removed. If the contact lenses are disinfected in a proper manner, then they can be protected from bacteria, which can infect your eyes.

In order to clean the contact lenses, they should first be taken out of the eyes and then placed in the palm of your hand. Then a few drops of the cleaning solution should be placed in the center of the contact lens. Then the tip of the index finger should be used to rub the solution on the surface of the contact lenses. You should take care not to rub it too hard otherwise the surface of the contact lenses could get damaged. Only a cleaning solution that has been made by a reputed manufacturer should be used. Tap water should not be used to clean the contact lenses as this contains bacteria, which can be very dangerous to the eyes.

Once you have cleaned the contact lenses using the cleaning solution, you move to the next step, which involves sterilizing, or disinfecting the contact lenses. For this, the contact lenses will first have to be placed inside the lens storage case. The case will then have to be filled with the cleaning solution or the disinfecting solution. It takes a time period of around four hours for the contact lenses to be properly sterilized. Most people keep their contact lenses to be sterilized before going to sleep at night. This process also helps in removing the proteins that get deposited on the surface of the contact lenses.

For people wearing contact lenses for the first time, it is very difficult to find out the correct side of the lenses. This can be done by placing the contact lenses on one finger and letting it face upwards. Then hold the contact lens in front of you. If the shape of the contact lenses is like that of a ‘U’, it means that the contact lenses have been kept in the proper manner and they can be worn inside the eyes. There are certain companies that mark their contact lenses using a laser, which makes it easier to find out which is the right side of the contact lenses.

Never share your contact lenses with anyone else. These contact lenses have been made using a prescription that is specific to that particular person. Any other person should not wear them. They will not fit any other person and they can also cause some kind of infection in the eyes of the other person.
